The 8th World Congress of the Hedonist International, including the construction and dismantling, will take place from the 5th to the 14th June 2017 somewhere between Berlin, Hamburg and Greifswald. The main weekend of the congress and most of the program will be from June 8th through to 12th but there will also be plenty to do and see before and after those dates.
Once again, the World Congress will welcome people who want to be there and help before and after the main weekend. The structural, logistical and organisational scope of the congress has long since grown to such a degree that it has become impossible to conduct it as an easily manageable network. What more beautiful solution can there be to this dilemma than to shoulder the tasks together and to dissolve further the boundary between organisers and consumers.
During the construction and dismantling phases, the number of participants has to be limited to comply with venue stipulations. So the congress needs a clear and, above all, binding commitment from you as to when you will be there. Please enter this when you purchase your ticket but only if you intend to come to the construction and/or dismantling phases.
Those who would like to find out more about the extended participatory concept of the congress – the procedure and the opportunities offered – as well as those who simply need to vent their anticipation, are welcome to attend an informative meeting about the World Congress of the Hedonist International 2017 on Tuesday 11th April 2017 at 8pm at Fips, Markgrafendamm 14-15, S Ostkreuz, Berlin (through the door in the wall under the billboard). If you are not in Berlin but still want to participate early, email the ‘Mitmachzentrale’ at firstname.lastname@example.org.
At the congress there will be lectures, workshops, concerts, cinema, art projects and loads we don’t know about yet because so much happens spontaneously. This year, adding to the usual program threads of protest, party and action, the congress will focus on the following topics: right-wing populism and the new right, the G20 summit in Hamburg and contributions addressing the countries of Turkey, Hungary, Poland and the USA. Update: Call for Participation is closed.
For the first time this year, there will be a special program in the children’s area – and a huge children’s area it will be. You are welcome to bring your little ones. There are even school holidays at the time. It is only the closing party that is traditionally less child-friendly. Naturally there will be a quiet camping area for families.
Everyone who attends the World Congress shares all the costs by paying the entry fee regardless of whether they have been working for months or have only come for the weekend. Like last year, tickets for the congress will be issued in three lots. Please subscribe to the newsletter to be informed of the dates when the tickets go on sale because there are a limited number and experience has shown that they sell out quickly. Update: Tickets are sold out.
After hour in Hamburg
The after hour of the World Congress will take place from the 5th to the 8th of July at the G20 summit in Hamburg. The congress tickets are combined tickets – also valid for the extensive festivities in Hamburg.
No Facebook, No Nothing
It would be very kind of you not to post anything about the World Congress anywhere in the Internet. The Congress is also not interested in any media coverage and thanks for your respect.
